The mechanics are as follows you operate an ACU (short for Armored Command Unit) which serves as the main base. The predecessor could render armies of up to 1,000 units, but Supreme Commander 2 has been toned down to a level where it still retains the charm that made number one as well, but at the same time turning the game into something everyone can have fun with. Unlike its predecessor, which was one of the most difficult strategy games I have ever experienced, Supreme Commander 2 is nothing except a joy to play. Fortunately, Supreme Commander 2 isn't like most games. Most games have a tendency to punish you for this kind of behavior. Everything you do in the game will earn you research points which you then spend in the research tree, from here, you upgrade everything from unlocking new units and structures to upgrading the damage, etc, of a class of vehicles (air, land and sea).I love strategy games, but sadly I'm a so-called "turtle" I love building up my forces, but I hate to send them into battle. Instead of what we're used to - upgrading the buildings which create the units - Supreme Commander 2 has taken the game down a slightly different route.
The most complex part of any real time strategy game is the tech trees which you progress through while playing. In the end, the campaign works as more of an advanced tutorial to the game's multiplayer experience. Each faction campaign has six missions, lasting anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour, depending on your style of play and overall speed. The campaign will entertain you for a significant amount of time. However Gas Powered Games has tried to make the game more personal and immersive by trying to make you more engrossed in the story.
